Jerez's Equestrian Fair: A Celebration of Wine, Dancing and Horses
La Feria del Caballo takes place every spring in Jerez, attracting national and international tourists who come to experience Andalusian cuisine, wine, culture and entertainment at its best. As the home of the Royal Equestrian School, Jerez has a long history of breeding, training and selling the finest breads of Spanish horses, but don’t let the Equestrian Fair’s name fool you. This event may feature horses and carriages, but it is all about spending time with friends, people watching, dancing and fun.
By day visit Jerez’s historic center and nearby towns and sun-drenched beaches (bring your bathing suit), take an early evening siesta and then head out for a night of wine, flamenco and dancing at the fair. To make sure you are ready to celebrate in style, you’ll also be taking classes in Sevillanas, the traditional Southern Spanish dance typically danced at the fair by couples dressed in spectacular traditional garb. Prepare to eat, drink, party and sleep like a local, while still learning about the regional history and culture. |
